"Mommy to Be" Getting Ready for Photography
First and foremost, wear what is most comfortable and most “you”. Clothing for maternity and couples maternity photography shoots should be tight-fitting around the belly. Loose and baggy shirts will only hide that adorable belly we are trying to show off! Tight-fitting tank tops, button down shirts that can be tied or unbuttoned above the belly, scarfs that can be wrapped around your breasts and jeans without a maternity band are all great suggestions. Pants that are comfortable, not too tight around your belly, medium-colored (denim is great) and can be folded or lowered out of the frame. Please pay special attention to your undergarments if you are scheduling a more intimate, in-studio session. One dark and one white tank top or bandeau, Black and nude/white bra. Accessories – chunky necklaces, bracelets, dangly earrings, feminine scarves that can help add texture, interest, and depth to your images. Props related to your baby – booties, letter blocks, any other items of sentimental value that you might like in the photos. Items that are reflective of your style – whether it’s frilly or country, I’m sure we can work with it
Keep clothing selections for maternity portraits simple. Too many stripes and busy patterns can hide the stomach or detract attention away from it. Instead, stick with solid colors. Think about adding punch with a trendy necklace or earrings, or perhaps a pop of color with a cardigan or a cute scarf! Also, when you layer, we can change the look simply by adding or removing a layer.
